Yarn Love

New Yarn - Manos Del Uruguay

For a while now, Pam has been itching to bring Manos del Uruguay yarns to yarn-love. Now her wish is coming true and we are the lucky recipients!

Manos del Uruguay is a fair trade company that provide economic and social opportunities for rural Uruguayan women. They spin, dye, knit and also produce finished garments to be sold around the world. All of this is done in small villages where the women can work and see their communities improved without leaving home! Each skein of Manos del Uruguay yarns is signed by the woman who made the yarn and from which village it was made. Your purchase of this yarn doesn't just help our local community it also contributes to the lives of individuals in Uruguay.

You can expect to see Manos Silk Blend (dk) and Manos Maxima (worsted) arriving this week. Then, in August expect to see Manos Classica (worsted) filling our shelves.

Here's a brief overview of the yarns we'll be receiving-

Silk Blend - 30% silk, 70% extra fine merino worked on 4-6 US needles. Think a heavier shawl, or a lovely lacey beret, or a pair of fingerless mitts. Regardless of what you make, you'll definitely fall in love with this soft, silky fiber blend.

Maxima - 100% merino wool worked on US 7-8 needles. This soft one ply yarn has great yardage and is perfect for one skein projects. Be looking for our special "Bucket Brigade" KAL with this yarn. More details coming soon! Hint... I'm in heaven with the pattern (Ravelry link) because it tickles my recent big button fetish!

Classica - 100% wool worked on US 9 needles. Whether your looking for a felting yarn or a multi-purpose work horse. Handspun and kettle dyed with slight variations to each skein, the Classica might just become a staple in your stash.

Plus, to go with these lovely new yarns we have also recieved several new patterns from Churchmouse Yarns featuring photography by Jared Flood. Wanna take a sneak peek? Check out their designs here.
