Podcasts for Fiber Geeks

A couple weeks ago I asked what crochet and knitting blogs you all enjoyed. The responses were overwhelming! Now I want to know, what do you enjoy listening to... podcast wise that is. As an iPod nano carrier, I tend to find my favorite podcasts via iTunes. One of my favorites to listen to over the winter was KnitMore Girls. It's a mother-daughter team and they cover knitting and spinning. One of the things I appreciate is that their 30 minute "show" is broken into fun and amusing segments like "Mother Knows Best" or "When Knitting Attacks!". While both are extraordinary knitters, they readily talk about their mistakes and ask listeners for advice on how to solve problems in their knitting.

Perhaps my second favorite podcast has something to do with my former life as a children's librarian. You be the judge. KnitLark Lane is a woman reading classic literature while you and she knit. The podcasts alternate between fairy tales, a novel, and her talking about knitting and books. My only complaint is that it's not updated regularly. Still, there are plenty of archived stories to keep me going.

A podcast that I haven't yet listened to is Knitting History. A fairly new addition to the podcast world, it covers the history of fiber arts. There is something really intriguing about this and as I type, I'm in the process of downloading several of her early shows to give them a go.

Okay. Your turn. What podcasts are you listening to? I can't wait to be introduced to new friends, so spill the beans!

Shelley,

Great idea to add non-knitting podcasts to the list! If we go that root, I LOVE listening to A Splendid Table and NPR's From the Top podcasts. The first is all about cooking and eating and yummies. The second is about young musicians who at 8 or 13 are more accomplished than I ever was/will be on their instruments.

Since I spent a lot of time in the car I listen to a LOT of podcasts and have for ages. The only knitting one I still listen to regularly is Stash and Burn. Other than that I like Disney podcasts (wdw radio show and wdw today). Mom and I are actually going on a group cruise next year hosted by the wdw radio show. I also like tech podcasts like macbreak weekly and cnet's buzz out loud. And when I need to feel smart there is wall street journal this morning.
