Hello Yarn-Love Friends!
We are 1 week out from our Knit Along (KAL) and I wanted to start passing out the details.
Definition: A KAL or knit along is when a group of knitters knit on the same pattern at the same time. This can be accomplished with all the knitters in one place or worldwide. It is not a class with a teacher, class fee or “homework”. (FYI: There are also CAL or crochet alongs.)
What we are knitting? Citron from Knitty Winter 2009. I have a lovely skein of Altobish Limited Edition Lace (60% Suri Alapaca, 40% Merino) that I’ve been wanting to knit, but was hesitant to try a lace pattern. When I saw Citron I thought, “medium size needles, lace weight yarn, lovely little wrap SOLD!”
When will we knit? Our KAL will meet at Yarn-Love every other Wednesday evening starting February 10 until early March (the end date is flexible) from 6pm (or earlier) until 8pm.
How does this work? Very simply. You print out the pattern, stop by Yarn-Love for either fingering or lace weight yarn, then come knit with me on Wednesday, February 10. You can start the pattern before hand, work on it in between, or only look at it during our KAL times. The details are up to you! I’ll just be there to provide and accept motivation—remember I’m doing this too! ☺
Yarn Possibilities: Altobish Limited Edition Lace, Norro Sekku Lace (coming soon to Yarn-Love), Alpaca with a Twist Fino Lace, Knitosophy or Starry by Dream in Color, or Araucania Itata. Just to name a few ideas to get you started thinking!
Note: If you choose fingering yarn, you’ll need approximately 525 yards and size 7-8 needles.
If you intend to join us, please comment on what yarn you decided to use. I’d love to hear about the beautiful colors and creative styles each of you have!
These same details were published on Ravelry a week ago. So if you want to join that conversation please do! :-)
