We have a tradition in our household of waving good-bye to my husband every morning. Tabitha and I stand at the door and send him off in style. However, this morning it was c.o.l.d.! We opted for the dining room window instead of the front door. Mornings like today make me extra eager to sit on the couch, and bundle up with my current blanket project. When I do I know why many a fiber friend has crocheted or knit afghans during the winter months. First, the end result is practical and beautiful. Secondly, one doesn't mind the weight and warmth of a growing blanket when the temperatures dip below freezing.
As many of you have heard, yarn-love has just embarked on a Blanket SAL (Stitch-A-Long). We've got a Ravelry discussion thread we'd love you to join so we can encourage one another, post pictures of our progress, and help if a question arises. Our SAL is running from January 1 to March 2, which also happens to be a First Friday. Those that finish their blanket using yarn-love yarn in that time frame, and either bring your finished blanket to the shop or post a photo to our Ravelry thread, will be entered into a drawing for a $25 yarn-love gift certificate! So far there are about twenty of us attempting to complete this challenge.
Perhaps it's my over-achievement personality getting the best of me but I'm taking this opportunity to finish a blanket I started a couple years ago AND start and finish a baby blanket. You all know I'll be weaving in ends come March 2nd, right? I did spend some time during the Rose Parade to pick-up and knit 96 stitches for my next panel on the Moderne Log Cabin Blanket. We'd love to see you this Friday at yarn-love for the first First Friday of 2012! I'll have my blanket with me and another project I'm super excited about… but more on that next week. :-)
