keep warm with us!

Hello!

Well, I guess I should keep busy knitting and crocheting warm things! The 2009 Farmer's Almanac predicts we'll experience colder than average temperatures this winter. In fact, the 192 year-old publication states that "numb's the word," which is quite dismaying when I consider the 80-85% accuracy rate for the Almanac's forecasts.

Since yarn-love also wants you to keep warm, this note is chock full of details about new stuff, warm projects, cool classes, and sales and specials. Plus, we've tucked in First Friday news (join us and enter to win a cool prize) and our holiday calendar.

PS – Happy Halloween! Here's a Halloween challenge for you. Can you guess who from yarn-love is in the photo, wearing the Queen Anne's Lace scarf, at the end of the note? Stop in and cast your vote (and be entered into a prize drawing).

New Stuff
Lobster Sox by Lobster Pot Yarns. Wow! What could be better than a gorgeous hank of yarn that was hand-dyed in lobster pots and hung to dry in the salt air of Cape Cod? We have 11 amazing colors (Drawn Butter, Lobster Bisque, Hydrangea, Beach Plum and more) of this superwash merino-nylon blend, and each hank is a plentiful 484 yards. You don't have to be from New England like Louise to love this yarn, but Louise's love of the Cape and this yarn makes her want to hug it and not let go! In fact, Louise snagged a hank of Boiled Lobster and promised to knit up a something special for us when at Stitches East. What do you think she'll knit? Multnomah? Traveling Woman (requires Ravelry login)? Cookie A's Summer Sox Socks? We'll reveal what Louise knit with her Lobster Sox in our next note. Plus, we have the Baby Lobster Sox Cardi pattern, for a very sweet top-down cardi that is knit with just one skein.

Dream in Color Knitosophy. As if the folks at Dream in Color didn't already have enough fabulous sock weight yarn! Knitosophy is dyed on their Smooshy base sock yarn in a unique "flash" dyeing technique, which allows the bright, fun colors to play randomly throughout the yarn. There is no telling how the color variation of Blossom, Strength, Princess, or Superhero will knit up. (Isn't Superhero begging to be transformed into a cape?) Each color has a unique tag with a painting and an inspirational quote. Knitosophy will arrive at yarn-love by First Friday, November 6. We have a feeling this gorgeous yarn will fly off the shelves, so be sure to stop in right away!
