what's new
yarn-love has unpacked many boxes of cool stuff since last month's newsletter. We usually share what's new in our monthly newsletters, but we also want to make it simple for you to learn about new arrivals as soon as they have arrived. So, how can you find out new arrivals, designs, classes, and projects? First, check out the yarn-love website. We've added a what's new corner on the home page for highlights, and details can be found on the what's new page (formerly titled yarn-love blog). You can even post comments! Second, drop into our Ravelry yarn-love group and look for the 'what's new at yarn-love' topic. We will post a link here to our website each time we have a 'what's new' update.

But, you ask: What's new now? First, yarn. We received a new colors of Sheep Shop Two (chunky variegated wool) and Sheep Shop Three (DK weight silk-wool blend). Pam just knit up Motley Mitts last weekend using one skein of Spring. They are knit flat using short-row shaping and are seamed up the inside of the wrist, allowing for a thumb to poke through. These mitts are great to wear on cool spring mornings and nights while walking the dog.

Crystal Palace Cotton Chenille has arrived and is perfect for one-skein facecloths as well as baby projects. Who wouldn't love to receive the Petal Face Cloth and a special bar of soap? Ritratto is a sparkly, shiny mohair-rayon blend that will create fabulous garments and can be added as a special trim or accent. Pick three skeins and get clicking on a gorgeous Feather and Fan Lace Wrap that we're able to offer as a free pattern with yarn purchase. We've also unpacked boxes of Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Worsted and Bulky and Sirdar Crofter DK – read more about these in what's new.

Now, accessories and notions. A new supply of Namaste bags and matching Buddy Cases arrived including the just released Eggplant color. Hurry! Many of these bags are already being reserved for knitters who want a fashionable and functional bag. In addition, we have spring Della Q bags. The Knit Kit is the perfect all-in-one utility tool that includes all the essentials: a tape measure, stitch counter, thread cutter, scissors, crochet hook, stitch holders and tip protectors.

We hope you enjoy this personal story from Niki Gliptis.

Mother's Shawl: It's a Small World
When my family and I moved to Pennsylvania in 1970, we had a neighbor who opened the yarn shop on Chocolate Avenue some of us might remember. She taught me how to knit. In 1971, when I was still at home with our children, Evan and Cathy, I knit quite a bit. That year I knitted a shawl and gave it to my mother for Christmas. It was one of my very first “big” projects in knitting. I remember my mother using the shawl when she would sit on the front porch on cool afternoons. Read more...
