Spring has most definitely landed here in central PA and at yarn-love.  Outside, the days are warm and sunny (or cool and rainy!), grass is plush green, goldfinches are cheery yellow again, blue jays busily guard birdfeeders, lilies of the valley are creamy white against their green curved leaves, azaleas sport fuschia blooms, and my very cute chipmunk friend is soft velvet browns.

Inside, yarn-love, too, offers up lots of colors for springtime knitting and crocheting.  Colors range from soft color palettes of Debbie Bliss Prima (bamboo-merino blend) to vivid and also earthy colors of Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool; from two-color combos of Queensland Haze (cotton-corn blend) in yellow-orange, beach blue-green, and girly rose-chocolate to the watercolor brush stroked Queensland Pima Fresca in lilac, blush, aqua, and more.  And, let us not forget Noro Taiyo and Furisode (both cotton blends) that unfold in vivid stripes from needles and hooks.  Yes, spring has arrived – and as Jane Austen would write – I am monstrous glad to see it!

• First Friday, May 7.  Fall into yarn-love to take advantage of our shopportunities and for project time.  We’re open until 9 pm. 
• May and June KAL (Knit Along):  Knit with us in person Wednesday nights
• Saturday, June 12.  Join us on the lawn for Worldwide Knit in Public Day!  (Please bring a lawn chair and snacks, and wear your sunscreen.  We’ll provide the drinks and popsicles!)
• Sunday, June 27.  Open 12-5:  Join us for a knit in, sample sale, and pre-holiday knit and crochet ideas.
• July holiday hours.   Open Friday July 2, 10-5 only; Closed Saturday July 3; First Friday rescheduled to Friday, July 9, 10-9.
• Knitters’ Day Out (KDO), September 24 and 25.  yarn-love is thrilled to be part of the KDO marketplace again, and we are already busy planning!

Classes

We have a couple of cardigan classes on the calendar; both are terrific designs:  Audrey in Unst and Sideways Cardigan.  If you’ve never knit a cardigan before or have trouble knitting the ‘right size,’ let yarn-love instructors Roxanne and Alice guide you through the process!  The Sideways sample is now in the shop, with sweet Audrey to follow soon.  You can view all classes on our website – including the Spring Forward Socks class with Jeanene (have you seen her gorgeous sock in our shop or on the class list?).

 

Knitalong

Pam will launch a Just Enough Ruffles knitalong in May.  We hope you join us whether you are near or far.  Details are on our blog and our Ravelry ‘yarn-love’ group, but here’s the scoop:

• Knit your own very wearable and wrappable ruffly scarf in one of our soft worsted weight yarns (400 yards)
• This straightforward design will be a terrific project for knitting with others (while talking!), taking on road trips and to sporting events, Memorial Day weekend knitting, and for knitting on our front porches or decks while we watch spring unfold.
• Pattern available for purchase and download through Ravelry.
• Settle in at our table and knit with us Wednesday nights at yarn-love.  If you’re ‘far,’ knit with us from wherever you are and update us on our Ravelry group.
