Dream In Color Classy Review

Dream In Color Classy Review

One look at my yarn stash and it’s easy to see what my favorite yarn is: Dream In Color.   And more than any OTHER yarn in my stash... most of my Dream In Color stash is Classy, their worsted weight yarn.  Hands down, my go to yarn.  Love their other yarns too, but I have a skein of Classy in just about every colorway the ladies at Dream in Color have dreamt up…and a sweaters worth of a few too.  Looking at my projects, I’ve made 3 adult sweaters, a Tulip Cardigan, Rocketry Cardigan (which is on display at yarn-love), Clapotis, and assorted afghan squares all with Classy (not to mention the many projects I have PLANNED for my stash!).  Those who know me have probably listened to all the reasons I find this yarn to be so amazing, but since not ALL of you know me, you haven’t all heard my pitch!  So here goes….

I was first drawn to the Classy line of yarns when I looked into making the ever-popular Tulip Baby Sweater.  I had a friend who was expecting, and I came across an interview with the women from Dream in Color and how they got started.  They were looking to have a nice, soft, wool yarn that was easy-care for baby projects.  What a great idea!  I must admit I tend to be a bit of a snob and avoid anything acrylic.  But I also hate the thought of giving a new mother a handmade item they will have to take extra special care of.  Enter Classy!  It’s 100% merino, but it’s superwash.  It can go in the washing machine AND the dryer!  I ordered eight skeins of Classy to knit up my first Tulip cardigan.  As the yarn started arriving, I knew I was done for.  The colorways are completely amazing.  They are not solid, but are not really variegated either. Looking at a skein it’s easy to see the color variation, but when the item is knitted up that variation is incredibly subtle and totally beautiful.  It gives amazing depth but isn’t really obvious.  Every time I wear one of my Classy sweaters, I get comments from people on how much they love the faint color changes.

Within a week of receiving those first eight skeins of Classy I’d finished the Tulip sweater, and within a next month I had at least one skein of Classy in 26 different colorways.  My mind was racing at the idea of all the different Tulip sweater combinations I could come up with, not to mention the other projects.  At 250 yards per skein, there are hundreds of projects that could be made with a single skein of this gorgeous stuff.  For those of you wondering if I really machine wash and dry – I totally do!  I throw my Classy sweaters in my front load machine with a little detergent and put it on gentle.  The nature of the superwash fibers make the sweaters “bloom” a bit after washing, but a brief trip through the dryer on low and they are back to their intended size.  Super easy to care for, and still looking great after several washes.

So, if you haven’t tried out Classy yet, I challenge you to do so!  I have a suspicion you’ll fall in love with it just as I have!

Happy Knitting and Crocheting!
